Mission

ESPA-Montréal (Environnements avec simulateurs patients pour l’apprentissage – Environments with patient simulators for learning) is a regional hub of expertise and innovation providing environments for scenario-based learning using patient simulators.

The centre is the result of a unique education-health-industry collaboration aimed at improving the match between training and employment in the healthcare sector, in particular through the use of innovative teaching methods and state-of-the-art simulation equipment.

ESPA-Montréal aims to optimise the integration of high-fidelity clinical simulation (HFCS) in both initial and continuing education.

Services

The use of high-fidelity patient simulation (HPS) enhances the acquisition of skills, both in initial training and continuing professional development, in response to evolving needs (both quantitative and qualitative) in health care settings.

Student internships

We offer a series of days of high-fidelity clinical simulation for training groups. Several diverse and complex clinical situations can be simulated per day.

Continuing education

Our continuing professional development program is offered in various disciplines with the possibility of conducting different situations adapted to the specific training needs of any organization. Our trainings are credited by SOFEDUC. We propose 4 different trainings in simulation.

Areas of focus

Areas of focus include medicine, surgery, perinatal care, pediatrics, mental health, geriatrics, palliative care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Interdisciplinary simulations are also possible.

Team

A dedicated team is on hand to welcome students and other participants. Pedagogical and technical support is offered to teachers and other group supervisors during the various stages of high-fidelity clinical simulation (HFCS): briefing, simulation and debriefing.
